About Us

For the past thirty years, Sheryl Fullerton has worked for a variety of publishers and in several roles, including acquiring editor, development editor, and editorial manager. For seven years she had her own independent literary agency, Sheryl B. Fullerton Associates, representing nonfiction writers. She is currently executive editor specializing in books on spirituality and religion for a San Francisco imprint of a major East Coast publisher.

The one thing that has remained constant in all her work settings and roles is her respect and affection for authors and the work of writing. As an agent, she helped several new authors get started in their careers, and as an editor has acted as "midwife" to the birth of many tens of books over the years. That heart for authors is a large part of her motivation for working with Naomi Lucks to create YouCanWrite.com. She wanted to provide a resource that would give new writers of nonfiction access to the realistic, practical, and compassionate help they need to understand what it takes to get published.

Naomi Lucks has been called "the utility outfielder of writers and editors." During more than two decades of work as a publishing professional, she has written books (A Woman's Midlife Companion, Prima, 1997) and helped others write theirs (including Noreen Renier's bestselling A Mind for Murder: The Real-Life Files of a Psychic Investigator, Berkley Books, 2005), edited and developed book projects on categories ranging from art, self-help, and spirituality to mediation, pet care, and procedural manuals. She has written online help, edited a magazine about horses, and traveled to Peru and China on writing assignments. Naomi especially enjoys working one-on-one with writers, helping them cut through the clutter to discover the heart of what they want to say.
